Zanthoxylum bungeanum, also known as Hua Jiao (花椒), Chinese Prickly Ash, or Sichuan Pepper, is made from the dried outer husk of the mature fruit of the prickly ash plant in the citrus family (Rutaceae).

Nature & Flavor: Hot & Pungent

Suggested Use: 
For most recipes, use approximately 0.5–2g (a small pinch) and adjust according to your desired level of numbing flavor.
Zanthoxylum bungeanum can be added during marinating, stir-frying, or toward the end of cooking to preserve its aromatic and numbing characteristics.
Because of its bold flavor profile, start with a small amount and adjust according to taste.
